He was born in Durban. He is a major SA sculptor who studied at the UN(P) obtaining a BA (FA). He has served on a number of important committees and in 1983 was instrumental in establishing the Community Arts Workshop in Durban which offered art tuition to artists from disadvantaged communities.

He has participated in a number of group exhibitions in SA and abroad and he has held solo exhibitions in this country and overseas.
From 1979 he has been a lecturer in the Sculpture Department at the Technikon Natal. He is represented in public and private collections in SA and abroa
