There's something about Henry Taylor.
Behind the roaring laughter and warm friendly manner as well the Red Bull induced type energy levels, are a pair of constantly assessing eyes that suggest that there definitely is more and hint at the man who knows his craft and has over the past 35years carved out a reputation that secures his own niche in a sector dominated by big names.
As a second generation gallery owner, Henry has discovered the foundational needs of South Africa art buyers, and caters to that need. After 35years he acknowledges that the knowledge, service and transparency he provides his clients is more important than any image he may portray. This has been the main factor which made 2009 a prosperous year for him instead of the hard year it was for others in this industry.
Consistency, transparency and real relationships capture the essence of the Henry Taylor Gallery.
The core identity of the brand is its specialty in the Old Masters and maintaining their integrity and not diluting the standard of Art even in these hard times. At the Henry Taylor Gallery, there is diversity in our Old Masters which include black masters like Pemba and Sekoto allowing for diversity within a designated standard of quality.
This idea of quality is extended to our Up and Coming artists all of whom are of an identified calibre. For example G.P. Garizio for those interested in ear- marking the next generation of old masters, as well as more contemporary artists such as the exquisitely French Claire Denarie, whose painting have taken cosmopolitan Johannesburg by storm.
